Kaivara - Bhima Bakasura Betta, Near Chintamani, Kolar

Kaivara is about 65km from Bangalore, off of Bangalore-Chintamani state highway.

Pandavas, after escaping from the wax house fire, were believed to have spent a few years here.
It was called as Ekchakrapura in those days.
Bhima fought with the demon Bakasura on the hill Bhima Bakasura Betta.

There are five shrines in a temple complex known as Sri Bhima Lingeswara.
Temple was developed by Chola kings.

A small distance away from it, there is a Hoysala style temple dedicated to Sri Amara Narayana.
A small Aranya Rama temple is also part o the same complex.

An 18th Century saint Yogi Nareyana lived here, performed tapas in a cave dedicated to lord Narasimha on a small hill known as Vaikunta Hill. This hill is 1.5km away from the village.

Yogi Nareyana mutt is in the village itself. They provide free breakfast and lunch to the visitors.
