Vidurashwatha - Near Gauribidanur: Ashwatha tree planted by Vidura of Mahabharata

It is believed that the Ashwatha tree here is 5000 years old, planted by Vidura.
This temple compound is on the banks of Uttarapinakini River.

Vidurashwatha is also known as the Jillianwallah bagh of the south due to a similar incident here in 1935 during the Freedom struggle. 38 Satyagrahis were shot by the British.
A memorial park is maintained by the local industries here.
