Brief History of Bengaluru

Bengaluru Region was ruled by various dynasties as below:
  • Gangas -  from 350AD to 1024AD: They ruled first from Kolar and then shifted their head quarters to Talakad
  • Cholas -  from 1024AD to 1117AD
  • Hoysalas - from 1117AD 1343AD
  • Vijayanagara - 1343AD to 1638AD
  • Bijapur Sultans - 1638AD to 1686AD 
  • Mughals - 1686AD to 1761AD - Leased to Mysore Wodeyars
  • Mysore Sultanate - 1761AD to 1791AD - Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan
  • British - 1791AD to 1947AD


Bengaluru was founded in 1537 AD by Kempe Gowda, a feudatory of Vijayanagara empire.
